Introduction of a rapid sequence induction checklist and its effect on compliance to guidelines and complications

Background Current evidence for the conduct of rapid sequence induction (RSI) is weak. This increases risk clinicians modifying RSI procedure according to personal preferences. Checklists may help increase compliance best practice guidelines and reduce complication rates. Their value during RSI, a critical in anaesthesia, unknown. The aim this study was investigate local frequency RSI-related complications before after introduction an checklist. Methods prospective, observational, pre- post-intervention conducted at two hospitals. There were interventions: first standardized educational lecture all staff both hospitals, consisting instruction checklist general information about second intervention consisted 16 items.
